Hi, I'm Michał. BitApp is my software studio.

I build my own products. As a backend architect I also help teams with hard systems: I model the business with Event Storming and design with DDD. I work in PHP and Python.

Products

Things I came up with, built and keep running myself.

Verakio

In closed testing

It scores companies on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and builds a portfolio from them by clear rules. Daily data pulls, scoring across five factors, portfolio rules and backtesting.

Python (Flask, SQLAlchemy, Click), React, Supabase, Docker and Google Cloud. The logic is complex, so I split it by DDD into separate contexts: iam, market_data, scoring, experimentation, portfolio, backtest, operations. Every business rule lives in exactly one place, in the context it belongs to. Changes stay predictable and bugs are easy to locate.

WebhookApp

Publicly available

A free webhook tester for developers. You get a temporary address, you see every request, and you can forward it to your localhost. No sign-up.

Goldpick

In the App Store

A cosy clicker about a gold mine. You dig, upgrade pickaxes, hire a crew, and the mine earns even when you are not playing. Written in Swift, works offline, available in four languages.

Kalambury

In the App Store

Charades for a party. Simple play, plenty of phrases, a clean interface.

Who I work with

Wykop
backend developer

I work on the backend of one of the largest social portals in Poland. Traffic is very high, so every change has to be thought through for performance.

AppVerk
tech lead, backend developer, AI R&D

As tech lead I run Fralio, a service where fans support creators financially. Fralio holds a Small Payment Institution licence supervised by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, so the code has to meet the rules of a regulated industry.

As a backend developer I work on N-Color, a paint colour matching platform for NOVOL.

I also work in AI R&D: I build agents and skills that help developers in their daily work. On top of that I run software audits.

Earlier
Sigmeo

I worked there on one of the largest affiliate networks in Poland, a tool for monitoring mentions and scoring sentiment, a toy shop, and an application for a distributor of upholstered and hard furniture.

Gamedot

A gaming portal with an online shop.

03

Working together

I work alone, so I take on work that has a clear beginning and a clear end.
01

Event Storming workshop

In a day or two we take your business process apart. You leave with a map of the system that both the business and the developers understand.

02

Software audit

I review the code and the architecture. You get a list of problems ordered by importance, with a suggestion on what to do about each one.

03

DDD consulting

I help a team adopt the domain-driven approach in a real project, not on textbook examples.

A longer engagement as a senior or a tech lead? Write to me. I will tell you honestly whether I have time for it right now.

Open source

Part of my work is open.

Climbing Crux Model: holds recognised on a climbing wall
Climbing Crux Model

A model that recognises holds in a photo of a climbing wall, measures the distances between them, and lays out a route for the climber’s level.

Claude Code: the code-review plugin runs three auditors (security, code quality, documentation)
AppVerk Claude Code Marketplace

A set of plugins for Claude Code. They carry work from the specification, through implementation with tests and QA, to code review and the commit. I co-build it at AppVerk. Among other things I look after the PHP agent (Symfony, Doctrine, DDD), the plugin that simplifies the language of answers, and the documentation audit in code review. The audit makes sure the documentation matches what the code actually does.

About me

Michał Kurcewicz

I have been programming for over 22 years. I started with Visual Basic. Today I work mostly in PHP and Python, and I write mobile apps in Swift.

I like systems with complicated business logic the most. DDD helps me keep control of it and solve problems the way the business thinks about them. I work a lot on financial and payment systems.

I am a big fan of AI. It is my daily working tool: I build my own agents and skills, and at AppVerk I work in AI R&D.
